Accounts Assistant


£20-25k on an annual basis – pro-rated for between 15-20 hours

Role Purpose: Duties include using Xero to produce accurate accounts & financial reports, which will enable the management team to utilize this information to make business decisions. Ensure legal requirements & compliance are met. Ultimately the responsibilities are to accurately record all day-to- day financial transactions of our company.

Accountabilities

Responsibility - for delivering an accurate trail of company spending, the Bookkeeper is responsible for the variety of activities that can include:

  • Maintaining accounts, verifying, and posting transactions.

  • Balancing accounts on a day-to-day or week-to-week basis.

  • Accurate data entry of all invoices and sales receipts

  • Working closely with accountants to prepare VAT returns.

  • Preparing schedules, statements, and reports as requested.

  • Managing & filing relevant documentation.

  • Processing payments, invoices, income and receipts and entering data into accounting software or databases – Xero

  • VAT preparation

Relationships

  • Manage external relationships with Customers.

  • Work with internal team to drive performance as standard.

  • Communicate and share values & vision encompassing all the business

  • Consistently promote requisite role model behaviours

Legal

  • You will be required to ensure compliance with all Company

Requirements & Skills

  1. Essential is the ability to demonstrate your knowledge of the Xero accounting package.

  2. Understanding of financial accounting, cash flow and budget forecasting; • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel; and • Ability to work on own initiative to strict deadlines and self- manage bookkeeping requirements.

  3. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  4. Strong bookkeeping skills and previous experience in a similar role.

  5. Possess relevant NVQ/SVQ qualifications or specialist qualifications such as AAT.
